New Additions to The Tank!!!

There is a new species that has just been added to the RH fish tank! See if you guys are lucky enough to spot...

Kuhli/Coolie Loach (Acanthophtalmus Kuhli Kuhli)

Ten of these are added on Friday, 14th January 2002. Very similar to a miniature sea snake, a Kuhli Loach (Acanthophtalmus Kuhli Kuhli) is a bottom-feeder, and can grow up to 3 inches long. Usually distinctive by it's orange and dark brown stripes, these loaches are very shy fishes, presumeably hiding under the driftwood moss. That is why you seldom see them around. Consider yourself lucky if you can catch a glimpse of these fishes. However, you may have more chance seeing them at night and when the lights are off. They were recruited because the fish shop uncle said they can help clear snails.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Hope you guys enjoyed the new year. Fishes also need to enjoy the birth of 2005. And with that, several fishes are added to the tank community. Everybody, say 'Hi!' to:

Sparkling Gourami (Trichopsis Pumila)

Ten of these are added on Tuesday, 4th of January 2005. The Sparkling Gouramis (Trichopsis Pumila) are labyrinth fishes, which means they can breath atmospheric air at the surface and might swim to the surface of the water for a breath. They are distinctive by the dark mid-line stripe and spots of neon blue and green. Recommended by the fish shop owner to clear pesky non-beneficial snails. These little 1.5cm fishes are usually hard to spot because they are always behind/under plants looking for food.

Spotted Headstander (Chilodus Punctatus)

Four of these are added on Tuesday, 4th of January 2005. The Spotted Headstander (Chilodus Punctatus) is very distinctive as the opposite of the Rocket Pencilfishes that are in the tank. Instead of hovering 45 degress nose upwards (Rocket Pencilfishes), the Spotted Headstander hovers 45 degrees nose downwards, like doing a headstand. Very fascinating to view! Also recommended by the shop uncle to clear pesky non-beneficial snails.
